Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Why have an in-home pet sitter and not board my pet?
A: For some pets, just putting them in their carrier and taking a car ride triggers immediate stress. Sending your pet to the unfamiliar surroundings of a boarding facility can be a traumatic experience for you and your pet. While you are away, honoring your animal’s routine and environment can be important to their health and happiness. By engaging one of our pet sitters, your pet can stay at home, receive endless love and attention, and not stray too far from their usual habits.
Q: What does our complimentary consultation entail?
A: We come to your home for a “meet & sniff” with your fur baby. The safety of your beloved pet is our number one priority. During the visit, you will show us your daily routine with your furry, ensure that our sitter is a good match, and that all parties are comfortable. We will also review where you exercise your pet and how you handle them on the leash. This is so we know what to expect and what works best for your animal. This will also give our sitter time in your home for your pet to get familiar with their scent and voice. This way they are recognizable upon their arrival.
Q: Does my pet need to be vaccinated?
A: Yes, for all dogs we will need verification of current vaccinations from your veterinarian. If they are not current when we meet for our consultation, your dog will need to be fully vaccinated prior to the stay.
Q: How much notice is needed for booking?
A: We are currently accepting bookings as far as 6 months in advance. If you are an established client, we can book as far as a year in advance.
Q: What if my property is damaged while I am away?
A: Our team of sitters provide services for your pets in a reliable, caring, and trustworthy manner. However, we cannot be held responsible for damaged items resulting from your fur baby. Due to the extreme unpredictability of animals, we do not accept responsibility for unusual mishaps — especially if you have never left your pet in the care of a sitter prior to their first stay. Pet stains on carpet, furniture damage, broken plant pots, harmed couch pillows, etc. are not the responsibility of our sitters and we will not reimburse for this property.
Q: Do you offer last minute dog walking/feeding, cat care, and overnight services?
A: Please give us a call! We will certainly do our best to accommodate last minute requests, it simply depends upon availability. Please note that all new clients are required to complete a short new client questionnaire via email, have an in person consultation at their home with their sitter, submit vaccine records and a veterinarian release form prior to an overnight stay.
Q: Do your sitters administer medication?
A: We will administer medication: pills, drops, injections, and subcutaneous fluids to your cat or dog. However, this service is based on our ability to refer a sitter to you that is experienced in administering your pet's particular type of medication. We will not administer medication to any animal that poses a danger to our pet sitters.
Q: Does Happier at Home Pet Sitting have insurance?
A: Happier at Home Pet Sitting, LLC and all of our pet sitters are covered by our bonding and insurance policies to the maximum levels available.
Q: Do your sitters have references?
A: Yes, we are happy to share references with you. It is not uncommon, especially for first time clients or new fur baby parents, to have a reference call with established clients. It is our job to put your mind at ease!
Q: How do we know that our sitter is a trustworthy professional?
A: At Happier at Home Pet Sitting, our top priority is the safety and security of our clients, their pets, and their property. Our pet sitters undergo an extensive screening process before they are hired, including reference checks and background history checks.
